CT Weather: Snow Squalls, 40 MPH Wind Gusts On Wednesday

12

CONNECTICUT — Another day, another interesting weather forecast for us in Connecticut. A Hazardous Weather Outlook has been issued for the entire state as snow squalls may pop up during the day and this evening and strong wind gusts are expected to materialize today too.

And by this weekend, Connecticut may see record high temps and more rain. It’s never a dull moment for us.

For Southern Connecticut, a Wind Advisory is in effect from noon until midnight. Northwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected. “In addition, snow squalls will be possible today, mainly in the late morning through the afternoon. This may bring brief low visibilities down to a quarter mile or less.”

For Northern Connecticut, a Wind Advisory is in effect from 3 p.m. until 1 a.m. Thursday. West winds 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 45 mph expected. “A coating to 2 inches of snow is possible overnight with the higher snowfall amounts expected further south and east.”

WTNH News 8 Chief Meteorologist Gil Simmons says, “Please be careful out there early this morning! There are many reports of patchy ice on the pavement and walkways! So be careful walking and driving! Plan on some snow squalls coming through midday today with a round of snow and some very strong gusty wind! Some of the wind gusts may reach 40 mph. The snow is not going to last more than eight minutes, but it could cause traffic to slow down big time! One cold day tomorrow with 20s low 30s followed by a huge warm up with temperatures near 50 Friday and some 60s late Saturday and Sunday morning! Highest threat of rain over the weekend looks to be Sunday morning!
