Sunny today but Sunday snowstorm all but certain

Mostly sunny skies and warm temperatures in the 50s Friday and Saturday will be a short reprieve from snow before another storm hits Denver on the weekend.

High temperatures will reach 51 degrees on Saturday and 55 on Sunday, the National Weather Service in Boulder said.

Rain could begin falling late Saturday night. After midnight there is a chance for a mix of rain and snow and then only snow after 3 a.m., the weather service said. There’s a 40 percent chance of snow early Sunday.

About a half inch of snow could accumulate before daybreak on Sunday morning, according to the NWS. The chance for snow doubles to 80 percent later Sunday. Snow will taper off before 11 p.m. Wind could gust up to 22 mph.
