As of 2 pm, there is plenty of sunshine for those north of the I-20 corridor, where cloud cover still reigns supreme over the southern half of the area. And as you can see by the radar, we still have some shower activity over the extreme southern parts of the area along and south of US 80 and up into the northern portions of Perry County and into the southwest portions of Chilton County.
Temperatures were in the 50s across the area as of the 1pm roundup, with Gadsden and Haleyville leading the way at 58 degrees. Birmingham was at 55 degrees. Prattville was the cool spot at 50 degrees. Highs are forecast to reach the mid-50s to the lower 60s today, but the pesky cloud cover and shower activity may hold some of those highs down by a few degrees. For tonight, clouds will be on the decrease, and it will be a little chilly outside, with overnight lows reaching the lower to mid 30s across Central Alabama.
Monday will be a much brighter and more seasonable day as skies will be sunny and afternoon highs will be up in the mid 50s to the lower 60s, which will be a couple of degrees warmer for those who are still experiencing cloud cover and/or some showers at this moment.
