Boxing fans are in store for quite the treat as they won’t be forced to dig into their wallets to watch one of the best fights of the year that’s taking place this weekend. At the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Saturday night, a showdown that’s been a long time coming will finally take place as Vasiliy Lomachenko meets Teofimo Lopez to unify the lightweight titles. Even better? It’ll be available to watch on free television as opposed to a fight of this magnitude generally being thrown behind a pay-per-view wall.

Lomachenko has proved in just 15 professional fights why he is arguably the best pound-for-pound fighter on the planet. He has avenged his only defeat and his fighting what many considered to be two divisions above his natural weight class while outclassing everyone he faces. Lopez, meanwhile, has been nothing but a wrecking ball so far in his 15 pro fights with only three opponents making it to the judges. In his last fight to secure the IBF crown, Lopez blitzed through Richard Commey for a second-round TKO.

There’s plenty to be excited about on this card with two more fights in addition to the main event. Arnold Barboza Jr. is set to take on Alex Saucedo in what could be a title eliminator at 140 pounds. Saucedo failed in his only attempt to claim a title when he was stopped by Maurice Hooker in 2018. Barboza is undefeated in 24 pro fights. Also, Edgar Berlanga is back with his devastating knockout power when he faces Lanell Bellows at super middleweight. Berlanga is a one-man wrecking crew with 14 knockouts in 14 fights, all in the very first round.

It’s going to be a busy week leading into one of the most lucrative fights of the year. CBS Sports will keep you up to date on everything going down at the MGM Grand with the latest news, top features and best bets to make for this loaded fight card on Saturday night.
