Markets Set Eyes On Earnings, Inflation

Inflation anxiety coupled with nervousness ahead of the earnings season swayed market sentiment across regions and asset classes. The consumer price inflation reading for December from the U.S. which is seen heavily influencing the Fed’s interest rate trajectory is due on Thursday.

Wall Street Futures are trading directionless. Major European benchmarks are trading above the flatline. Asian stocks finished trading on a mostly negative note.

Dollar weakened amidst lingering anxiety ahead of inflation data release, dragging the Dollar Index. Bond yields moved in a mixed fashion. Crude oil prices edged lower amidst larger-than-expected draw in inventories in the U.S. Gold prices gained amidst the Dollar’s weakness. Cryptocurrencies whipsawed ahead of the expected SEC decision on ETF.
