Stocks have moved mostly higher during trading on Friday, with the Nasdaq and the S&P 500 on pace to set new record closing highs. The major averages have all moved to the upside, with the tech-heavy Nasdaq leading the advance.

Currently, the major averages are just off their highs of the session. The Nasdaq is up 100.29 points or 0.6 percent at 16,192.22, the S&P 500 is up 21.87 points or 0.4 percent at 5,118.14 and the Dow is up 58.69 points or 0.2 percent at 39,055.08.

The ISM said its manufacturing PMI dipped to 47.8 in February from 49.1 in January, with a reading below 50 indicating contraction. Economists had expected the index to inch up to 49.5.
